Apply for an FCRHA Scholarship
$5,000 toward your education!

ELIGIBILITY DETAILS
All the following must be met to be eligible to apply to the FCRHA Scholarship Program: 

AFFORDABLE HOUSING CUSTOMER:

Applicants must be a member of a household currently receiving housing assistance through the FCRHA.  This includes, but is not limited to: 

  • households receiving any type of federal, state, or local rental housing assistance

  • households residing in any property owned by the FCRHA

SIX MONTH RESIDENT OF FAIRFAX COUNTY: Applicants must be a resident of Fairfax County, Virginia for at least six months prior to submitting their scholarship application.

ACCEPTANCE INTO AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL: Applicants must be accepted by an accredited postsecondary education institution:

  • Two-year or four-year college, university, vocational or trade/technical school

  • School must be located in the U.S.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Submit two signed letters of recommendation with your online application.

ESSAY QUESTIONS: Submit responses to two essays with your online application:

  • Essay Question 1: Answer the following question, in writing (up to 500 words): What does affordable housing mean to you?

  • Essay Question 2: Select and answer one of the following questions. Responses can either be in writing (up to 500 words) or can be submitted through a video (maximum of three minutes long). See the online application for video requirements.

    • How have your community and educational experiences influenced your life?

    • Describe a special attribute or accomplishment that sets you apart from others. How will this help you succeed in your postsecondary endeavor? 

    • What are your long-term career and educational goals? 

    • What is the biggest obstacle you have overcome in life? How has that helped shape who you are today?

TRANSCRIPT OR GED CERTIFICATE 
Submit, with your online application, the most recent report card, a transcript from your postsecondary institution, or GED Certificate, as applicable. All transcripts must include cumulative GPA.
