Your Input is Needed on our Latest Community Report - Draft FY 2024 CAPER

CAPER Report evaluates Fairfax County’s use of federal funds for affordable housing and homelessness initiatives

What have we accomplished for the Fairfax County community?

This is the central question of Fairfax County’s Department of Housing and Community Development’s latest public comment opportunity. Each year, we prepare a draft of the “Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) report, which evaluates how we are using federal funding for affordable housing and homelessness initiatives. We need your input to inform the draft of this report. The public comment opportunity will be open from August 22, 2024 – September 17, 2024.

“CAPER” report recounts initiatives supported by federal funding

Fairfax County receives federal funding for affordable and supportive housing, homeless shelters and services, community and economic development, and building public and private partnerships. These funds come from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), specifically, the Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships, and Emergency Solutions Grant programs. The CAPER report provides a summary of accomplishments and an accounting of the allocation and expenditure of funds under the Consolidated Plan, a 5-year comprehensive planning document that identifies Fairfax County’s overall needs for affordable and supportive housing, homeless shelters and services, community and economic development, and public and private partnerships.

Your input will be added to the report, which is submitted to HUD.
