Round 6: Funds Available to Affordable Housing Providers to Assist Tenants with Rent Payments

The Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development has announced the start of the sixth round of rental assistance available to affordable housing providers to assist tenants facing financial hardships as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic to pay rent.

APPLICATION PERIOD: OCTOBER 19 – NOVEMBER 16, 2020.

Additional rounds of funding are subject to funding availability.

The funds are made possible through an allocation from the Community Development Block Grant program authorized by the CARES Act. The funds are to be used to help cover the rental obligations of eligible tenants who are unable to pay their full or partial rent due to economic hardships resulting from the effects of COVID-19. There is NO PENALTY OR REPAYMENT associated with this assistance.

New this month: Funds are able to be used to provide qualifying tenants with rental assistance for up to 6 months. This was recently extended from the 3-month limit included in the initial release of the program.
