FCRHA Adopts HUD Waivers to Efficiently Administer Rental Assistance During COVID-19

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) has adopted a number of waivers authorized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to enable more effective service delivery in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. These waivers provide administrative flexibility to efficiently serve tenants and landlords participating in federally subsidized housing programs.

Some of the waivers granted include:

  • Self-certification from program participants of income and assets and up to $1,000 in medical expense deductions

  • Extension of maximum term of homeownership assistance by up to 1 year

  • Allows for the collection of non-original Social Security number documentation
