Fairfax County Wins Multiple Affordable Housing Awards

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority is the recipient of several recent national awards, recognizing its leadership, innovation and equitable strategies in affordable housing.


NAHRO Award of Merit Recognizes The Residences at North Hill

The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) recognized The Residences at North Hill with its Award of Merit, which honors the successes of public housing authorities  and amplifies the innovative ways in which they’ve improved their agencies, their communities, and the lives of the people they serve. The Residences at North Hill features 279 affordable homes, including 63 for seniors, in Alexandria.


One University Receives NMA Development Award and LAIGW Award

One University, a new community of affordable homes for families and older adults adjacent to George Mason University in Fairfax, received multiple accolades. The development is comprised of 120 units of affordable multifamily homes (The Robinson); 120 units of affordable senior homes (The Belmont), and 333 units (798 beds) of student housing.

Nan McKay and Associates (NMA) gave its Housing Award to the FCRHA for the creation of One University. The NMA Housing Award recognizes outstanding achievement in affordable housing.


One University was also recognized by the Land Economics Society George Washington Chapter (LAIGW) in the award category of “Outstanding Project with more than 250 units.”
