The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) is a separate political body from Fairfax County Government and possesses specific powers granted by state law – including the ability to issue bonds, purchase property, and make loans. Eleven FCRHA commissioners exercise these powers to develop new and preserve existing affordable housing opportunities for residents across the income spectrum in all areas of the county.
Within the past year, the FCRHA has welcomed four new commissioners, and one returning commissioner, representing three supervisory districts with two at-large appointments. Appointments to the FCRHA are made by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. With the beginning of the new fiscal year, we are pleased to formally introduce and welcome each of our newly appointed commissioners:
Roderick (Eric) Maribojoc, At-Large
(appointed November 2020)
Commissioner Maribojoc is the Executive Director of the Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship at the George Mason University School of Business and serves as a board member of the Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance. He is a real estate professional with over 25 years of experience in all facets of commercial and residential properties, working with private-sector real estate investment funds. Commissioner Maribojoc has also taught at the graduate real estate program at the Kogod School of Business at American University where he earned his MBA in Finance and Real Estate in 1993.
Kristen Robinson, At-Large
(appointed November 2020)
Commissioner Robinson is the mother of a seven-year-old son and works with children at a pediatric therapy studio in the Tysons area. She is a strong advocate for the advancement of affordable housing options in Northern Virginia where the cost of housing can be extremely prohibitive – particularly for the county’s most vulnerable residents.
Staci Alexander, Mason District (appointed December 2020) Commissioner Alexander is the Director of Thought Leadership for AARP and works to amplify AARP’s voice in key conversations around longevity, aging and equity. She has a rich history of cultivating partnerships and alliances in support of mission driven goals across the fields of policy development, communication and housing and community development, having worked as a staffer in the United States Senate, as a lobbyist for nonprofit urban and rural affordable housing developers, and as a grant maker focused on expanding the capacity of nonprofit housing developers for the Fannie Mae Foundation. Commissioner Alexander is also an advocate for children and adults with developmental disabilities and serves on the board of the Institute for Exceptional Care.
Nicholas A. McCoy, Lee District
(appointed January 2021)
Commissioner McCoy is an Investment Management Associate at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Washington, DC. and focuses his practice on fund formation and his pro bono practice on immigration and prisoner advocacy. Prior to joining Akin Gump, he served as an 8th-grade math teacher in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Commissioner McCoy is committed to the FCRHA's goal of safe and decent housing for all, with a particular interest in affordable housing for all incomes.
Elisabeth Lardner, Mount Vernon District
(re-appointed May 2021)
Commissioner Lardner is a former Chair of the FCRHA. In addition to being actively involved in the Mount Vernon community, she has led a nationally recognized landscape architecture and planning practice focused on public and nonprofit work, with projects that have included large capital investments such as the development of an arts and crafts college master plan in Eastern Kentucky and park master and management plans, streetscape design and downtown revitalization projects
We are very pleased to welcome these new commissioners to the FCRHA and are excited for their unique perspectives and talents. Their leadership will prove instrumental in fulfilling the FCRHA’s mission to initiate and provide opportunities for Fairfax County residents to live in safe, affordable housing and to help develop, preserve, and revitalize communities through fiscally responsible and open processes.
