At Tuesday's Board of Supervisors meeting, Chairman Jeff McKay and Providence District Supervisor Dalia Palchik accepted the proclamation to declare April 21-25 Community Development Week.
“Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Programs provide essential, flexible funding to address housing insecurity, improve public services, and ensure economic stability for Fairfax County residents,” said Tom Fleetwood, Director, Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development.
Each year, Fairfax County receives an average of $7 to $9 million in combined federal CDBG and HOME grant funding, which allows strategic and innovative partnerships with local nonprofit organizations and other private entities, and leveraging additional resources. In FY 2024, Fairfax County leveraged $10.51 of outside funds for every $1 of CDBG expenditures in affordable housing activities.
